We love. Our favourite brands to complement your basics

by Charline Catteeuw

While we love wearing Les Basics head-to-toe, there are some other independent labels and innovative makers making beautiful pieces worth every penny. Here are some of our favourite brands to spice up your Les Basics looks.

Lack Of Color

You’ve likely spotted them on Instagram before. A favourite of numerous celebrities, Lack Of Color is a must in our wardrobe. Founded by a creative couple from Queensland, Australia with the mission of making hats wearable, modern and fun, their high quality yet affordable fashion accessories easily complement your everyday staple wardrobe. Little surprising you find their hats in our Canggu boutique!

Zulu & Zephyr

Founded by bona-fide beach lovers just like us, Zulu & Zephy is another Aussie label on our not-to-be-missed list. Dedicated so supporting charitable causes, the brand strives to limit social and environmental impacts on a direct level. We love how they play with  textured fabrics and clever designs, making their manufacturing something that could equally come from your mother’s drawer in the 70s – Truly tapping into the cool side of coastal fashion.

Ranger Store

To the pool or to the beach? Why decide. Anyway, if we know one thing for sure it’s that we never leave without a handmade, Turkish Ranger Store Towel. Purchasing a throw you help the label raise funds for research and treatment of MND. Select from their pastel hues or get your custom throw.

Lapa Swimwear

Sun chasers, beach huggers - This Bali favourite of ours is for you - Lapa Swimwear. The brand's Portuguese team creates pieces centred around the endless summer lifestyle, inspired by the sublime tropical environment of the island. Handcrafted by local artisans, there's nothing that could complement our beach-ready wardrobe any better.

La Luna Rose

Another one of our Bali friends, slow, artisan made jewellery brand La Luna Rose closes the production loop by producing 99% recycled silver jewellery pieces, using residues of industrial scraps and end-of-life applications like electronic and electrical scrap. Founder Rosie's aim is to form bonds with her makers, while keeping the brand's environmental footprint as light as possible.

Everlay Jewelry

We couldn't just decide on one jewelry brand that complement our basics; we had to include all-female run West Coast brand Everlay, designing timeless jewelry for the adventurous, aka for us. The versatile, high quality pieces easily transition from an evening with friends in downtown Vancouver to weekend camping getaway at Whistler for a day on the lake, and hence are perfect for the bona-fide travellers amongst us. Make sure to check out Les Basics' founder Fred's collaboration with Everlay here

June Swimwear

Getting ready for your next beach adventure? Then Montreal-based, ethical swimwear brand June shouldn't be missing from your list. A favourite of founder Fred's, the versatile, comfortable pieces are perfect for us messy beach hair girls, and have been part of many of our favourite vacation memories.
