Made in collaboration with PALM SWIMWEAR.

Made of 80% nylon, 20% elastane from Italy

ECONYL nylon fibres have been regenerated from fishing nets and other post-consumer waste including plastic water bottles and thrown-out carpets. An initiative that recovers abandoned nets left on coral reefs and ocean floors to create new materials for repurposing and rejuvenating underwater ecosystems. It works like this: the post-consumer materials like plastic water bottles are collected, sorted, cleaned and shredded into small pieces. The small pieces are then melted into a liquid that is turned into strands of polyester or nylon, which are then woven into fabrics. It all sounds like a lot of work, but you will be pleased to know that it takes less energy to make recycled fibres than it does to make virgin fibres. Recycled fibres have a 75% lower carbon footprint than virgin†materials and use up to 90% less water.

Why do we collaborate with PALM? Because they take a slower approach to fashion by using high-quality, sustainably sourced materials and producing no more than they need. All swim pieces are produced in-house in their Bali studio and are made singularly upon purchase. They adhere to the highest standards of quality and support ethical and sustainable manufacturing practices.
